“Get Started” Sewing Part 1 – The Absolute Basics $65 4 hour total course time split into 2 sessions |
Getting to know your machine -- Covers functions, threading, tools, adjustments, maintenance, feet & accessories, tips & tricks. Patterns, Fabrics, Notions -- How to choose and read patterns, fabric characteristics, tips for choosing and installing closures, trims, etc. Cutting, Sewing, and Finishing -- How to lay out and cut your pattern, standard assembly "rules", adjusting patterns, working without a pattern. Complete a Project – The student will make a zippered pouch. Includes the "Get Started" Sewing Course companion booklet. |

“Get Started” Sewing Part 2 – Basic Sewing Techniques $36 a 2 hour course completed in 1 session |
Students will purchase fabric, and a pattern, and utilizing the skills learned in part one, they will lay-out, cut, and construct a pair of pajama bottoms. |

Garment Construction $65 4 hour total course time split into 2 sessions |
Students will choose fabric, and a pattern for a shirt, dress, or slacks. Depending on the pattern choice, the student will learn the techniques for zippers, sleeves, a waistband, button-holes, and finishing. |

Garment Re-Construction $36 a 2 hour course completed in 1 session |
Choose your project – reconstruct a t-shirt into a more feminine style, or bring your garments that are headed for the give-away bin, and turn them into something else completely. Everything is a candidate for reconstruction – clothes, curtains, hankies, linens...it just take a little imagination. |

Custom T-Shirts $36 a 2 hour course completed in 1 session |
Students will learn how to create custom t-shirts using photos, or custom computer generated graphics, and heat-pressed ink jet transfer paper. Bring a white t-shirt - 100% cotton, or 50/50 cotton/poly (no spandex)...jersey knit (not ribbed). If you have a photo, or design you'd like to use, bring that too. |

Working Without a Pattern $36 a 2 hour course completed in 1 session |
Choose your project – students can make a tote-bag, a notebook cover, a pillow, an apron, or curtains. Learning the basics of working without a pattern will give you the tools you need to create your own projects. |

Garment Decorating $36 a 2 hour course completed in 1 session |
We'll use the specialty stitches on your sewing machine, trims & ribbons, appliques, and basic embroidery to add design elements to your garments, accessories, or home decorating projects. |

The “Get Started” course covers the basics of design elements, hooping stabilizers, topping, which needle to use for which fabric, and various tools that make the job easier, and produce a polished, professional look. “Beyond the Basics” is software based -- learn the basics of how to: - Download and import designs - Edit designs - Reduce or increase design size - How designs are created (digitizing aka punching) - Transfer designs from your computer to your machine (Includes Stitch Era Universal Lettering Embroidery Software) |
